2022 MotoGP™ recap: Silverstone – Game on

Pecco Bagnaia took the win to continue his title comeback at Silverstone, with Maverick Viñales and Jack Miller joining him on the podium

Having taken the win at Assen just prior to the summer break, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) kept his comeback challenge alive at the 2022 British GP with victory, while Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) faltered once again as he came home in eighth place, with a Long Lap penalty not helping his case.

REWIND: Chapter 12 - Game On

Joining Bagnaia on the podium were Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing), who fell just short in his victory bid, and also Ducati teammate Jack Miller, with the Aussie holding off Gresini Racing’s Enea Bastianini for the final podium place.

It was an exciting return to action at Silverstone, with it being an all action race. Poleman Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing) crashed out from a winning position, while Quartararo slid down the pack after he completed his LLP. At the front, Viñales was doing his level best to reel in Bagnaia, hovering all over the GP22’s rear tyre right until the final lap, but the Aprilia man went wide at Stowe and Vale, handing the win to the Italian who took 25 crucial Championship points.

Title leader Quartararo struggled for pace, while fellow contender Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) put in a trojan effort while injured to come home just four seconds off the race winner in P9. With two wins on the bounce for Bagnaia, he was now within 49 points of Quartararo out front with Espargaro 22 behind with the Ducati stronghold of the Red Bull Ring up next.
