The Italian rookie is pleased with how his first three days of 2022 testing went ahead of the Official Sepang Test
Mooney VR46 Racing Team rookie Marco Bezzecchi is pleased with how his three-day MotoGP™ Sepang Shakedown Test went as the Italian, his fellow rookies and Test Riders kicked off 2022 track action.
Bezzecchi, a 24-time Grand Prix podium finisher, ended the Shakedown as the second fastest rookie behind Raul Fernandez (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing). The VR46 Academy rider posted a 1:59.711 to end a positive trio of days on the saddle of a Ducati as Bezzecchi improved every day, becoming more comfortable on his new bike in the process.
“Today was a good day, better than yesterday as I improved a little bit. I’m happy with the test as we improved every day a little and I gained some confidence with the bike. The team did an incredible job again. Then we’ll see over the weekend what we can do,” said Bezzecchi.

“Physically I’m not too bad. I haven’t’ tried a very long run, so having not done many laps I feel good. Maybe over the weekend we’ll do some longer runs. But, right now, I can’t complain.
“Today I followed Aleix (Espargaro) and I followed him for one or two laps. He was faster than me so it was difficult to follow him. It’ll be easier to find people on the track on Saturday and Sunday but I’m not looking for anyone in particular.”
Bezzecchi will be joined on track by his fellow full-time MotoGP™ competitors on the 5th and 6th of February, including teammate and close friend Luca Marini.
