During the Mandalika Test, LCR Honda boss Lucio Cecchinello discussed what’s changed in the box
Chatting to Jack Appleyard and Simon Crafar during Day 2 of the Official MotoGP™ Mandalika Test, LCR Honda boss Lucio Cecchinello outlined what has changed inside the box for the 2022 season.

“In realty we had, of course, we made several considerations inside our team in how we can possibly improve our work,” said Cecchinello, speaking during the midday recap live from Indonesia. “Then we came up with the conclusion we definitely needed more brain involved, so we hired one more engineer.
“Then we moved the people up from their position. Christophe Bourguignon as the Technical Director who watches over both riders and is the person in charge to communicate with HRC, the main communication with HRC.”
Bourguignon has been part of the LCR set-up since 2008 and has worked with the likes of Stefan Bradl and Cal Crutchlow, before working with Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol).
“David Garcia, last year he was our data engineer and now he is Alex Marquez’s crew chief so yes, we have moved a little bit around and we have more people. Hopefully with this new structure, hopefully we can have better human performance,” concluded Cecchinello. Garcia was Marquez’s Crew Chief when the Spaniard won the Moto2™ World title in 2019.
